Kassy Chauhan was appointed the Executive Officer of the North Kings Groundwater Sustainability Agency (NKGSA), effective February 1, 2020, by the Agency’s Board of Directors. A state-certified professional engineer, Ms. Chauhan also serves as a Special Project Manager for Fresno Irrigation District.
Ms. Chauhan worked side-by-side with previous Executive Officer Gary Serrato during adoption of the Agency’s Groundwater Sustainability Plan and assisted with submittal of the Plan by the statutory deadline of Jan. 31, 2020.
Ms. Chauhan brings more than two decades of experience working with elected boards, the public, disadvantaged communities, and a range of local, state and federal agencies. Her drinking water experience includes various roles at the State Water Resources Control Board (2014-2019) and the Department of Public Health (2000-2014). During this time, she was responsible for the regulatory oversight of more than 370 public water systems in the counties of Fresno, Madera, Merced, Mariposa and Tuolumne.
A native of the agriculturally-rich Imperial Valley, Ms. Chauhan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Fresno in 1997. She has been a member of the university’s Civil Engineering Advisory Board since 2016.
